Choosing the right Linux desktop distribution for your system.

Linux is a secure, flexible powerful, and reliable platform that has a lot of functions from IoT to containers, servers to desktops, and much more.

Why desktop distribution has to make much headway. One of the reasons is choice. There are a lot of options available in the market for desktops, but it takes a lot to select the right one for the system. A person doesn’t need to know about SELinux, Light DM, PipeWire and GUB in the start. The person should start with analyzing the speed and OS. This will improve their productivity, so they should be looking for this initially.

The first choice to make is a desktop environment. There aren’t many options available for the desktop environment but there are still plenty of options like KDE PLASMA, LXDE, i3, Cinnamon, Sugar, and many more. Among these environments, the best ones for beginners are KDE PLASMA, Cinnamon, Mate, Xfce and GNOME. Xfce and GNOME are not recommended for beginners as there are a lot of configuration options that will become overwhelming for the users. Among all these options, Cinnamon is the better option for desktops because of two reasons i.e it’s a default desktop for Linux mint and it helps in active development of desktops.

Package managers look similar too. It is recommended to users to use those package managers that use APT or DNF i.e Ubuntu or Fedro-type distributions to use on the Cinnamon desktop. These are good for beginners.

If one is looking for a modern looking minimal desktop, then Ubuntu is the answer.

If one wants a more elegant desktop, then Kubuntu is the answer for them.

If one wants to focus on stability then GNOME is the answer.

If one wishes to have a more efficient workflow then Pop up is the answer for those users.
